My firm has been trying to find out why we are getting a Printing error of objects disappearing when printed to PDF. So far, the error has been limited to elevation markers. it has happened in Revit 2017 & Revit 2018.
I have: Adobe DC
I am running:
Dell Precision T5810
Intel Xeon CPU E5-2687W 3.00 GHz
32.0 GB Ram
64-bit O.S.
Dual Nvida Quadro K1200 Video Card
Pic’s attached show my print settings and the bad PDF produced. The example is a Revit 2017 project. There are several elevation markers missing but I draw attention to the two that disappear most often. This seems to be a random event. Most times I am batch printing from the views. I rarely if ever have my sheets open. When Printing Today while getting this post together I did open this sheet in Revit and the display was the same as the PDF (with the missing elevations). When I activated the view and moved around the view refreshed and the missing elevation showed up. But I have never had that happen before.
I have been told in the past that this was a video card issue. At the time that made sense as it was not happening at my station but was at weaker computer station we have in the office. Now that it is happening at my station I don't think that is the issue. This also does not accrue in all our projects. When it happens also seems to be random. All our models are generated from a Template file started in 2015 and updated to the New version. With an updated Version of the template for Revit 2016 & Revit 2017. So, we can start Projects without the update process.
Our Structural project file is only 28 MB (typical file size) the Linked Architectural project file is 203 MB (on the larger side for us)
Any ideas of a fix would be greatly appropriated. Right now, we have to double check all PDF's and our worry is that this may not be limited to the elevation markers and other items disappearing and could be missed.
Thanks for the Help
Craig
I know some items can go missing when there is not enough RAM available during printing, could you check that?
Of course it is unlikely with 32 GB, but just to be sure that is not the case.
Could you also print as a raster variant and see if items are visible then?
Marc,
Sorry for the delay in my replay. Been crazy busy with deadlines. In watching the windows task manager "processes" my average ram usage for revit is around 1.5G the CPU Usage spikes to 97% when printing but runs most of the time around 72%, Physical Memory never above 30%.
I have tried printing as as a raster and it runs ok but it runs slow and doubles the size of my pdf. So far since I first posted I have printed about 5 times and not had any issues but it is completely random as to when it happens so. I will update if it continues to happen. any other suggestions would be great.
Hi @CraigDiaz
Sorry to hear that you are having issues.

Hi @CraigDiaz
I can send you a private upload folder.
Let me know if you would prefer that?

Hi @CraigDiaz
I just shared a private upload folder with you.
Let me know if you have trouble accessing the folder.
Also please provide a journal and a screencast of what you are experiencing.
See article: Revit - Collecting and sending diagnostic data to Autodesk Technical Support
Use the collector utility to extract your files and upload the data -set to the folder.
Let me know if you have any questions on the above.

I am working on the screen cast now. but the .RVT and .RVT from the log file are posted. please let me know if you need anything else. thanks.
Viveka,
Have you had a chance to look at the files I sent you? any luck recreating the error? any Ideas on what is causing it?
Do you print your PDF as single page or multipage? Also what is the resolution do your PDF output? By default the PDF output is set to 1200DPI & it does create missing graphics sometimes. So I tend to lower to 300DPI to make it print faster and get complete picture.
Hi there @CraigDiaz
We are looking at your Revit files, could you please send me the journals and data-set as requested, also your screencast cannot be viewed, can you resend?
