Revit not working with Nvidia GTX 1650

Hi,

I have a Dell G3 with the Nvidia GTX 1650 and i'm trying to use Revit 2020 with it, but the software performance is almost the same as my old notebook without any offboard GPU (only the onboard one, very simple).

I've tried to configure de Nvidia control panel, adding the Revit software in the 3d options, selecting the high performance gpu. I've configured the Revit options to use hardware acceleration, but none of these configurations worked.

I'm a Archtecture student and need this notebook to work properly, any ideias?

Thank you for the question @Anonymous, and welcome to the Autodesk forums!

The performance of Revit can be affected by many factors.

What is making you think the performance you are seeing is due to the graphics card?

Also, can you attach a journal file recorded from Revit? (This would have useful info to confirm if the graphics card is being identified properly by Revit.)

Thank you for the journal file @Anonymous!

I’m finding the following from journal.0012.txt:

  • Revit 2020 is not updated. I’m seeing that there were multiple performance improvements in these updates. I would suggest updating Revit to the latest build of 2020.2.2 (you can access updates through the Desktop App or Autodesk Accounts page).
  • Graphics card (GeForce GTX 1650) is being recognized by Revit.
  • The latest graphics driver (451.67) is installed.
  • The system was noticeably low on RAM when Revit was started: FreePhysicalMemory : 1,813,672. Based on the recommended 20x file size to RAM ratio, with that amount of free RAM the largest file you could work with would be 90MBs (over that amount Revit would start paging memory to the virtual RAM which is significantly slower, and you would see reduced performance).
  • The system seems to have 8GBs total RAM available. This does meet the minimum requirement, but depending on the size/complexity of the models you will be working with (over around 325MBs) you may see reduced performance due to the limited RAM (You can monitor the RAM availability using the Windows Task Manager).

In case you are interested in the maths of the 325MB number:

If updating Revit doesn't clear up the slow performance, could you reply with the size of the projects you are working with?
