Images: Left is level (2) plan view, highlighted stair shows past up stair cut line. Right is highlighted, stair section of levels (1) & (2).

I've seen multiple articles on the matter of stacked stair representation, with solutions varying in time and complexity. I want to cut to the chase and save myself some time. My question is:

How do I prevent the highlighted stair from being shown through the stair above? Is there any way to create a stair cut below the level for the down stair?

I want to avoid using annotations, custom detail line work, & filled regions as much as possible. Let me know if you need any other information, or explanation of the above images.

UPDATE: It was a problem on my end in regard to the VG of stair treads, basically being holes in the stair for the bottom to show through.

However, my followup question is still open: How to provide a cut line for the down stair below the level without using filled regions & the linework tool? A compromise would be to raise the general cut level for the view, resulting in the (up) stair cut falling to the middle. However, I would like to exhaust my options of trying to get to the below "sketch" of providing a cut for the up stair and the down stair first.
