Hi all,
I would like to achieve a column-wall drawing as in pic.
I have tried like in video, but I do not consider it as a parametrical solution. (e.g. fo n column-wall connection)
Any idea?
i agree with martijn.pater, if this is a structural column and those are structure walls (which they all appear to be) why are they not in the same model?

Hi,
I will answear shortly.
We have two different modeller for structural part and architectural part within the firm.
I would like them to model separatelly because our project are quite big. I want discipline model be light and handy (Not full of unnecessary data from other disciplines).
These are architectural cladding. The model presented is just a dummy project.
I think the below is parametric enough
Ask the engineer modeling the columns to nest a Detail Item Family into that of the structural column then:
Optional: You can set various line thicknesses with Yes/No parameters to control conditions for various situations

@martijn_paterevery time you receive a link you bind it? ![]()

No definately not, but I don't nescessarily want this join to show as requested.
If you bind it though, you will get this result. You can replace the group with a new link when available and override the group created.

So binding the link gives you by default a column with different line weights on each side? how?

@XXalessio.amodioXX Have to disagree. The solution given by @RDAOU is not that time consuming really, wouldn't be that much work. If you are going to receive new structural models to relink it's probably better if you have tag annotations etc. which if you bind/reload might loose it's host? But like I said, no I usually don't bind links so I don't know...
@XXalessio.amodioXX wrote:This is not a bad idea but quite time cnisuming.
It took me 1 min to create load and overwrite the column family!!! I am not sure how time consuming that is...you are not applying it on each column separately!!!

interesting approach.... i can see that working if done from the beginning. i have enough trouble getting them (my struct group) to make needed changes, much less asking them to make a change so i can see something better in my file. LOL

- Copy monitor the structural columns from the link over to your model
- Hide structural columns category from the link
- Edit the structural column family and add symbolic lines matching the plan of the column, keep them under Structure Column projection category so they are thin, load in project
- Join walls with structural columns
@hmunsell keen sighted
I am not sure what kind of structural engineer delivers a structural model with the basic OOTB elements the first place!
I just hope the OP do realize that the detail item family one needs for typical construction details in drafting views; its not going to be a wasted effort. If they are delivering those too they might as well use them for the columns and spare him doing the work twice

Thought about copymonitoring actually, guess that just needed a few more steps... n1:)
Hi all,
Thanks for your precious information.
I will try all of them and mark a solution afterwards
