Hi,
The screenshot below shows a line style that serves as a boundary of a fill pattern in views with different scales.
I would like for the thickness of the line to display the same in these views with different scales. It looks like the pattern spacing is consistent, and the spaces between the dashes are only closing in at the larger scales due to the increasing thickness of the line.
I have read on several threads on several discussion boards that I need to set up different line styles for different scales and then set a filter by view that will select the correct line style for the correct view scale, but I have been unable to find detailed information on the specific steps that might be involved.
Is this really straight forward, and I'm just missing something?
Or, what are the various topics I need to study in order to find a solution?
Any workflow recommendations on what the steps might be to achieve this, and what they might be called in Revit would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any help.
revit same line style at different view scales

I found a solution on RevitForum- I'm modifying my lineweight table.
I'm relatively new to Revit, and trying to set up our construction documents with information from the model as much as possible, but because it takes a while to customize and build everything, I'm ending up taking some shortcuts here and there, temporarily.
For the past week I've been looking at methods of showing fire rated walls in the model. Most solutions that I've found require a lot more setup than I have time for at this point, and are too complicated for me to easily communicate to coworkers.
So I was trying a dumb drafting workaround for an easy but dumb fire rated/ gas tight wall line, and forgot that Revit is not a drafting tool.
Well duh. All the linework OOB is set to scale model objects in viewports, and because all items in our documents are expected to be model based, dumb lines that look the same at different scales are not easy with the OOB settings.
So I'm making some dumb lineweight settings that will display the same in all viewports, for dumb workarounds, until we can get to a point where all our workflows are purely model based.
Any ideas for better quick workarounds for fire rated walls will be greatly appreciated. Thanks ; )
You might try using a Property Line, as I think it will scale automatically?
Interesting idea on property lines-
I haven't used these before, and just tried drawing one in one of the views.
I like the fact that the property line is actually in the model, so it could show up in other views.
I'm not seeing where the property line might have any display graphic features though- is it possible to have more than one property line type in a project, and is possible to make them look different from each other?
So here's a follow up question-
Changing my Line weight table got the same line style (which is a boundary of a filled region) to display the same in my different scaled views.
However, if I go into "edit mode" on the filled region, to modify the line, the scale blows up in sketch mode.
Does anyone know where the scale for lines in sketchmode is set?
I guess I could just switch back and forth between lineweights for editing purposes, but I'm trying to find a solution that doesn't require an inordinate amount of steps to be communicated to others.
thanks for any ideas.
views with same line weight
sketch mode lineweight is very thick
I don't know much about setting up linestyles, but as for your second question: when in sketch mode type in "TL" to work with thinner lines, and then "TL" to go back.
Yes- TL temporarily takes care of the line weight issue in sketchmode- thanks for the reminder-
