Revit is asking to update file from 2009 to 2019

Lately Revit2019 has been corrupting working files. When I try to open them it ask me to update from 2009 even when I am working with 2019. It will not let me open, move or copy the file and even some of the back ups have the same problem. What can I do to retrieve the files and to prevent future files to present the same issue?
