Revit imported family

Hi im struggling with revit family I created a cornice in autocad and imported it into revit family generic wall based..I do assign materials to it but when I load it into a project it doesnt change the material I tried everything.. I did try the type propeties I did add the parameter where you choose material and the material finishes where you can choose type or instance I did al that but when its in the project it doesnot want to change any material it stays a dark grey colour..can someone please assit me step by step

Hi just watched the video it still doesn't help me because I created my drawing in autocad so whem I import it into revit the sizes is fine I just cant change the material if I load it into my project I can assign any material but it doesn't change by object just stau a dark grey colour even if I render

use the Autocad file as a reference only create the profile as a revit family as in the video then change the material.

 

you cant assign Material to an imported item. (autocad)
