Hi,

When exporting IFC walls behave very unpredictably.

Se below revit model and IFC export.

The walls have sweeps.

Whats going on here? Any tips?

I don't issue the issue.  What's the problem?

The exported mesh is corrupted somehow. Triangles along the facade. The exterior face has disappeared, we see into the wall.

I still haven't been able to solve this, played around with all IFC export settings.

Picture showing the problems more clearly below:

Hi @Anonymous ,

Thanks for posting on the forums.  I'd like to offer some help.

It looks like you are getting some irregularities with your IFC output (at least on the facade of the walls of the building shown).

  • What version of Revit are you using?
  • If you could, please open a new session of Revit and create a Screencast of your workflow from start to finish, clearly showing the issue you are experiencing.  Screencast can be downloaded HERE.
  • After closing Revit, please attach your 3 most recent journal files.
  • Please attach a copy of your Revit model and the IFC export as well.

If you are not able to share these files publicly, I will follow up with a link to upload your files in a private message.

Thanks!

Hi there, you can try Revit to ArchiCAD IFC export. I find their IFC translator works better than default Revit IFC export.

Revit IFC export tends to have bugs and export may not come out as intended. I've test it vs ArchiCAD IFC export and find ArchiCAD IFC export tends to accurately export the model. However there are some few bugs like IFC will not read Curtainwall cut into wall. Other than that it is good alternative for user for anyone looking for IFC export.
