Revit - How to group walls by thickness and show subtotals in a schedule?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to create a wall schedule in Revit where walls with the same thickness are grouped under one header and display a subtotal for each group.

For the 1.25 cm walls, their mark values are not important, so I could group them under one mark. However, for the other walls, the mark values are important, but at the same time, I’d still like to see the overall subtotal for all 10 cm walls.

Ideally, I’d like to have headers for each thickness (e.g. 10 cm walls), with all the individual marks listed underneath, and a subtotal for that group. Then, below that, another header for 1.25 cm walls (as it currently appears), also showing its subtotal. Finally, I’d like to see a grand total for all walls at the bottom of the schedule.

Is there a way to achieve this within the same schedule (without creating separate schedules for each thickness)?

I often create similar tables and would love to learn the best workflow for this.

I’ll attach a screenshot for reference.

Thanks in advance!

You can achieve this directly within a single Revit schedule by adjusting the sorting and formatting settings. In your wall schedule, go to Sorting/Grouping and set the Sort by field to Thickness, then check Header and Footer options. Choose Footer: Calculate totals so Revit shows a subtotal for each thickness group. After that, add a secondary sort level, like Mark, to list individual wall types under each thickness header. Finally, in the Formatting tab, make sure the Area or Length fields are set to Calculate totals so you also get a grand total at the bottom. This setup keeps everything in one schedule and updates automatically as you modify your walls.
