Hi all,
This is probably a really basic question but is it viable to use Revit to do a single room modification / design rather than an entire building? For instance if I wanted to draw up an extension to give some feasibility ideas to a client rather than draw up an entire existing house and what is attached etc?
Just wondering peoples thoughts and approaches to this?
Sure. Just draw, the walls, floors, ceilings etc for the single room.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.
you can only model extension and attach a big mass instead of an existing building if it is not worth to show it.
I guess, it just feels like too much of a simplistic approach for Revit. I almost feel like I should use Sketchup for modelling of individual spaces / renders as Revit is too in depth?
I dunno maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way, I wanted to see if other people use it in that way.
... hi @Anonymous
... off course you can do anything you want to show to your client
... could be only a bathroom , or a living room
... create and move walls, floors, ceilings, windows, etc...
... even you can put some furniture on it and render it
.... your client will be more than happy to see the results

Are you preparing Construction Documents for submittal?
Even if Revit is conceived mainly for architectural project and for BIM process ( from small projects like houses to large one as campus or health facilities) , it can be use also , only for presentation purposes for interior architecture and furniture projects, like in my following examples :
or quick linear presentation:

Nice.
Nope just to give a client ideas of what a space could be / feel like. Fair enough though, some nice examples have been provided. Guess I didn’t know if drawing just a shell of a space was the norm for other people
i do it all the time.. I have one client that I prepare drawings for that does a lot of interior remodeling. He sends me photos and dimensions, and I create the space. Although I rather draw the entire structure so we can see an addition as it attaches to the whole house, for an interior project, there's no need. And....since I already have Revit running, why would I want to start up a different program. It's easy.. and it'll be fun.
Indeed, you can draw and model anything you want especially to show some details for sketches. However, for conceptual design I prefer to use Autodesk Formlt
