Hi reviteers! I have this idea: want to build a bare metal server for me and my teammates. In case you don't know, bare metal is a kind of server wich have all computing capacity (data storage, CPU and GPU) as cloud servers but dedicated to one client, allowing multiple users to work whitin all its distributed capacity via virtualization (e.g. VMWare or Citrix, no matter if they do the job from a PC, tablet or another device), instead of traditional servers wich only function as data banks (commonly used in Revit environments for central files location and worksharing).
I've been thinking of a server equiped with a Xeon processor, a Nvidia TESLA GPU or similar and enough RAM and disk memory for 6-8 users working on large scale models. In terms of price and maintenance, it looks better than buy the same number of PCs with equivalent performance.
My questions are: anyone have done this before or know from anyone else experience with this kind of server using Revit? And the most important, how manage Revit licenses in this case considering that Revit Server no longer exist, could I work with only one license or I'll have to buy as many as users working on the server? Lot of kudos for those who can help me thinking about it.
