Revit for High School Students

I am a HS Design & Tech teacher currently using Sketchup in my Architectural Design class and I am interested in switching to Revit. I am looking for some help with the following items:

  1. Is there a cost t my school to use Revit?
  2. Can my students download Revit for free on personal devices to use in class?
  3. How much storage space would we need to allow students to save work? How big is the average Revit file?
  4. Are there any suggestions for computers, we currently use laptops to run our class.
  5. I tried searching for a AutoDesk Certified Partner, but could not find one in Michigan. Any help tracking down a local partner would be great.
  6. Any other suggestions or ideas for setting up Revit in the class room would be appreciated.

I have been on that site, not really finding what I had hoped for.

Did you bother contacting them so that an Autodesk Education Representative could call you or meet you somewhere? They would be able to answer most of your questions.

To answer your other questions... Laptops work but they should meet the at the minimum the Price and Performance specifications: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/S...

i7's with at least 500gb drives, 12gb ram and a dedicated video card (GTX or Quadro) are suggested.

Average files range anywhere from 30mb to 2gb..depends on what you are modeling.

There are lots of reseller/providers in Michigan....D3 Technologies, Imaginit, TATA Technologies, etc...but they usually handle sales and their own training programs.  The Education Community is your best contact.

It all runs through Autodesk Education, that's how and what you have to pursue to make it happen.
