I receive this error message whilst opening a central file on local server (not revit server) in Revit 2016:
"The model is missing many elements, and it cannot be opend"
- the model does not open after the error message
- opening central or local file with 'audit' checked does not help
- opening the file with just one of the worksets opened does not help
- there is no backup file in the back up folder, cannot restore a backup
- earlier saved local file with timestamp also does not open, gives same error
- opening in newer version of revit (2018) does not help
I will loose two days of work
Have read several forum and help items but have not found solution for my problem.
Any other things I can try?

can you try to restore to the previous version through collaborate tab (Restore Backup) or Manage Cloud models in audit mode or try to purge unused in audit model and synchronize and save somewhere else and then try to open.

Did not work/ solve my problem.
By now have modelled everything again, new model does not appear to have this error.
