Revit Family Array - Start with 1 Module

I am working on creating a Revit Family that needs to have a built-in array feature. The model needs to start with only 1 module showing. Then from the properties box, be able to specify whether I want 2 or more of the objects in the array to show. This needs to happen in the x and y directions.

Is this possible? Is there another tool in Revit that will allow me to create a parameter so that it will visually show up like that?

Yes. You need 2 elements at the start position. One will array and one will not. Both will have a visibility parameter that will control which one is visible based on whether or not it is arrayed.

Wonderful! Could you elaborate on how the visibility parameter would be applied to achieve this?

Well, I also noticed that you want to array is both the x and y directions. This is a lot more complicated and involves nested within nested arrays.

No way I can explain the process.  Take a look at this family and reverse-engineer it.

I don't know what you are trying to array, but a Curtain Wall does basically the same thing: Arrays panels in both the x and y directions.

Thank you! Once I know how to do it one direction, I can figure it out for the other.

What exactly are you creating?  There are several other tools to create array-like objects without fiddling with the actual arrays, formulas, visibility and whatnots.  Most of them are easier to use and more versatile and more flexible.

I am creating a ceiling hosted family for a product company - similar to Armstrong products. The decorative ceiling module will be arrayed based on the designer's preferences.
