Revit Export

Hi,

We have always worked in AutoCAD and more recently JDA Floor Planning... my company is currently looking to put something in Revit. We have full access but no training.

We have a building file in Revit from an architect but cannot get this to export. When we press export we get a couple of options 'energy mode' etc. but this will not progress based on their being no 'rooms'

When we go with the other option, no fixtures are on the plans (walls and signage only) and export is greyed out.

Does anyone have any very basic knowledge on how we can get this to work. We are currently just trying to test the functionality

Any help appreciated

I'm a bit confused, what do you mean EXPORT to where and from? If you have a Revit program you can directly open from there, but it will depend what version of Revit you have and version of Revit of the architect modelled their Revit file. Please explain on what you are trying to achieve. Thanks

Are you trying to export a Revit model to AutoCAD?  If so, go to File Menu, Export, CAD Formats.  There is DWG option there where you can export your Revit model to CAD.

File > Export > CAD Formats > DWG

once there you can select the view(s) to export. mine is highly customized to my company standard, but i think the default settings are AIA standard.

Hello and thanks for your reply!

What I'm looking to do is take the store I have in Revit and put it into Floor Planning.

I believe that to do this I need to Export the Revit file as an 'WLM' file as the only option I have in Floor Planning is to 'Import XLM from Revit'

When I go File, Export as XLM, I get two options... 'Use Energy Settings' or 'Use Space/ Room Volumes'.

When I select energy settings I get my walls etc, but no fixtures. When I select Space/ Rooms I get a 'can't be ignored' error.

I can't progress any further for each option.

I've attached a flow chart of each option plus the bigger split out screenshots and a shot showing the store with fixtures etc. inside.

Any help appreciated!

Could you perhaps elaborate on what you're trying to achieve?  If you have full access to Revit, where do you need to export to?  Is it JDA Floor Planner?  Do you need this?  Does this software not accept DWG files?  Maybe try as an IFC export rather.

Hello and thanks,

Not sure if you've seen my previous reply so I've added that below.

We currently use AutoCAD to draw our buildings and fixtures then convert this to DXF and import into JDA Floor Planning to add Planograms and feed into downstream systems (all JDA based)

Our end goal is to replace AutoCAD with Revit but the short term plan is to get Revit to Feed into Floor Planning and vice versa. We also want to test VR... but that may be some way off.

Floor Planning is Revit friendly can only accept a XLM file - see below this import pop up in Floor Planning.

I have a store built by an architect in Revit, but cannot export this as an XLM as required - previous trail and attachments.

Hope this helps, many thanks.

This link may help you.  It also seems to suggest that a DXF file can be opened in JDA Floor Planning.  You can export directly as a DXF from Revit.
