HI everybody,
This is my first post and one i have found particularly tricky.
so I have linked a DWG into revit in order to trace round and create some floors and furniture. in Revit the lines align perfectly (see image1) but when i export a dwg back out of revit and try to align this with the original drawing, most of the lines are offset (see image2) another thing to note is they are all offset by different amounts. during my investigating I exported a pdf which seems to show my revit line work aligned to the outside of a thicker line, the side depending on the angle of the line, vertical being down the centre (see image3) I think I may have an idea of what has happened but I have no idea how this has happened or how to fix it. I have followed the same procedure with another cad and revit model but this does not happen so I believe it is a setting somewhere within this project but I really cant find which it is.
Thanks in advance for anybodies help, I'm really in a pickle with this one.
Thanks, Kyle
my images have come in, in the wrong order, 3 is at the top, 1 at the bottom, sorry.
I truely believe it has to do with the precision difference between Revit and AutoCAD.
Check both settings in Revit and in AutoCAD and make sure that both are the same.
AutoCAD can be precise to 8 decimals, Revit can be set to custom and set to 8 decimals as wel.
Hi Edwin, firstly thanks for the response. How would i check/change these, all i can seem to find is dimension precision. Thanks again
For Revit find the settings here: Manage -> Project Units -> Length [ 1235 [mm] ]
Rounding on custom an set the value to 0.00000001 (or something like this.)
Haven't tried this but this be would my first attempt to control this.
I don't see anything like precision settings in the DWG export options.
Thanks again Edwin, but I've had no luck with this unfortunately, I have also checked my other test project which has exported correctly and it contains the same settings.
Have you perhaps used another Template for the import?
What happens if you combine both DWG files into the same Revit file and export that combined one?
Have you tried to make the DWG as an import instead of an linked file?
Maybe the import function 'Correct lines that are slightly off axis' is throwing you off.
Otherwise i am at a loss.
if I link both dwg files, everything matches.
if Import the exported dwg, it no longer matches up
it might also be worth noting that, the linked file is with shared coordinates but with an imported file the dwg has to be moved by snapping to a corner.
