We are a Interior Design Firm and we are using Revit. Whenever we reload the other consultants Revit models we are losing dimensions. Do anyone have a solution for this problem or even and explanation for why this is happening?
You might want to take a good hard look at the linked files. Are they Revit models or CAD or a mix of the two? If you dimension from a Revit feature to a CAD feature, then whenever you reload links / save / do nothing more thsan work on your model, Revit may lose the dimensions.
In case the links are CAD files and you have to dimension to them, try this - drop a Revit point or invisible line on the CAD feature you want to dimension to, and then dimension to that.
This may also be helpful -
No we are dimension to Revit models not cad. Being that we are Interior we rely on the Architect model for walls and ceilings elements. So sometime when reloading models they delete.
Good chances that those elements were deleted and recreated in the link file.
I never dimension to linked anything for this reason. If you provide more detail on what exactly you are dimensioning we may be able to provide solutions.
That being said, if you are the interior designers, aren't you responsible for the finish wall linings, ceilings floors etc?
