Revit - Creating a Floor via a Topo

I am looking to create a floor from an existing topo. I envisage this to be done by creating a 3d dwg of the topo alone, then by opening the topo in AutoCAD and then by using the drape tool create a solid surface, from this I then wish to import it back into Revit to then create a floor by surface.

However I am having difficulty in creating the drape and also in importing the drape into Revit to then use to generate a floor by face. Having had a look round for help I believe this to be possible however would like further instruction on how to do this and if it is the best solution.

The reason for doing this is that I want to be able to place the floor underneath the topo and then use it to host a fence to. In doing this I can position a fence at any point in my model and the fence will automatically attach itself to the floor and thus give it the correct slope / appearance. I am using 2017 for this and cannot upgrade to 2018

Sounds like you may be wanting to create a surface from a mass. Your Revit Topo surface can be exported from Revit to dwg format, and then imported back into Revit using "Import CAD" -- without ever needing to open AutoCAD.

To do this, you would select your Topo Surface and "Export" it to DWG under a unique name. Then from the Massing tab, select "In-Place Mass" and while inside sketch mode, use "Import CAD" on the "Insert" tab to place that uniquely named DWG file inside the sketch - and then close out of In-Place Mass (ignore warning).

Now you can use that mass to host a "Roof" or "Wall" (under Model by Face on Mass tab). "Roof" is best, because you can select all of the faces at once, whereas, "Wall" allows only one face at a time to be selected.

BTW: @ToanDN points you to one of the best: MARCELLO SGAMBELLURI. All his stuff is fabulous! Don't just bookmark 'em;  save them all to your hard drive for safe-keeping!
