Hi,
I am running 2018.2 Revit. I have been working for weeks on a architectural model with HVAC, Electrical, plumbing and structural models linked in. Yesterday (monday) it started crashing when cutting a section in the architectural. I have narrowed it down to one of the linked files. I even started a brand new project, linked in the model, cut a section and it just sits there spinning and goes to not responding. Everything worked fine last week so I recovered from backup an older model. It still crashes when cutting a section. Some of the things I have tried have been: remaking central file, using audit, recovering older file and still no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks
Before cutting the Section:
-Purge the project
-Try turning off a lot of unnecessary Model elements ( VG) in the view you are cutting.
-Turn off Analytical Model Categories
-Try turning off elements in Linked Models with Custom VG.
-Try turning off all Linked/Imported Cad
-See if there is a Family with an abnormally large file size loaded into the project.
( Go to where families are located in you server/computer and check for any family that is over 1-2MB.
If you find any, open them, Purge, then reload back into project.
-You may need to do this for any Linked files as well.
So it appears that we had something bad that was not visible or apparent in any way. We copied out all of the content, started a new project and pasted the content in. It appears to have worked but still no idea what made the previous file corrupt. Now we have to go through the process of recreating views, sheets, etc. Doh!
Thanks for the suggestions.
