Hi guys,
We have a somewhat massive issue with models crashing when syncing to our central models. This isn't related to a single project or computers.
Example:
project 1
local A and local B
local A syncs, Revit slows down, no sync, crash.
local B ... is 'fckd'. instant freeze when trying to sync as well.
opening windows explorer: freezes when touching that central model file.
To resolve:
latest local becomes new central, other local: bummer dude, do your work again.
+6 hours each time this happens.
We are all working on the same specs, same revit version, same build.
I suspect bitdefender, but I want to know how I can pin point this issue.
Can I analyse a journal file for example? Does it show this issue?
Who can help me?

Disable or remove BitDefender and test.
Hi @Joris.vd.Meulen,
The journal can give a hint what's causing and/or interrupting the sync, but it is a puzzle.
Try to start with a clean journal(s) (backup/delete all existing ones), so that when it happens the log is a bit smaller.
Given that the Windows Explorer also freezes doesn't sound good, could be firewall/antivirus blocking something, have IT take a look at the Windows Events to what causes the exporer freeze.

ps. Any chance there's a Macro in the project(s) itself?
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Last week we found a 'workaround' for the issue. Since it's not project related (our whole firm is affected) and we are all on the same revit build it has to be something else. Revit itself or a windows-revit thing.
So the AV is being suspect #1.
Everytime we have a freeze-up / crash: bitdefender seems to do something (update database / run quickscan etc).
Our workaround:
We'll have our IT guy have a look at bitdefender. The program seems to update its database every hour so working with 3 members on a single project with hourly sync bugs is very likely to actually happen.
To be continued...
Is there a support team who could have a look at our journal files / revit files in order to see if something is wrong? Or that the issue is the AV as I suspect?
I can upload these docs to Autodesk Drive and share.
Hi @Joris.vd.Meulen,
Maybe take a look at this page, maybe this helps:
File Operations (Open, Save, Synchronize) Are Blocked or Slow
Have IT set exceptions for the Revit Filetypes, also have them look at at a system's Windows Event message on a system that had the issue (take a note when it happend, date/time).
