Hi @Anonymous,

Comes to work only on the material in a wall or is it even more?

Since version 2015 Revit has been very stable; crashes have been very rare for me. Since the 2017.2 update I've had frequent, repeatable crashes, always related to the material selector / editor. I run Revit on a relatively clean Windows 10 PC with few other applications (most of my other work is on another computer).

Revit is fully updated.

I have 16GB of RAM and am working on small models.

I do not have one of the (ridiculously few) certified graphics cards so getting a certified driver is not an option.

Disabling hardware acceleration reduced but did not eliminate the problem.

Reinstalling Windows from the ground up and reinstalling Revit fixed the problem for a few days but the crashes returned.

Disabling all add-ins per the above instructions appears to solve the problem. I'll work with it for a few days like this and see how it goes. Of note: many (most) of the add-ins disabled by the above procedure are first-party, not third-party.

By the way, when a thread like this is marked "solved" is it better to reply (this post) and keep the thread going or create a new thread?

Hi,

That would be completely up to you, the advantage of posting it here is that every user who has already participated in the discussion will get notified once you write something. If it continues I would be more than happy to remote in and have a look at it, as it might not be the most pleasant thing to have occurring.

Let us know of your progress,

Thanks, Jacob.

I've disabled most of the add-ins (see screenshot) and so far no crashes. When I get some spare time I'll try adding the add-ins one-by-one to see if one is the culprit.
