What kind of permissions are needed so this doesn't happen when Revit looks for a linked file? Didn't see many answers about this subject.

We are hosting our survey cad in shared network drives but Revit still points to the drive of the user who brought the file in and would like to allow users to open Revit without a warning dialogue.

Thank you.

That's the issue but I don't think this is a complete list of causes. What about unavailable reference link?

  • Mismatch Cloud models for Revit build with Revit build.
  • Third-party add-in conflicting with Revit API.

The file path should be a shared path that is accessible to all users.  If the file is kept in a subfolder of the central model then you can use a relative path.  So you can re-path the link (reload from) and point to the correct shared network path.
