Hi. I work for an IT services provider who just started working with a client who uses Revit. The client asked me if it is possible to collaborate with others in the same company on the same Revit "files". Currently, they have to ask each other if anyone else is using the same file to make sure that no two staff members are editing the same file. Can anyone tell me if it is possible for multiple staff members to simultaneously modify the same Revit file? If so, what is required to make this happen? In case it's relevant, the client is currently storing their Revit files in Google Drive and not on premise.
I don't know. I have no experience with Google Drive for enterprise, nor with Revit Server and shared folders installed on anything other than a physical storage in a Windows Server.
For my personal use, I have my Google Drive (and other cloud storage) sync to a folder on my computer and I can save files to it because it is technically a local folder.
There are now 2 types of worksharing in Revit: Local worksharing, and cloud-based worksharing called Collaboration for Revit. (C4R for short...)
for local worksharing to work, you must have a local networked drive, not a Google Drive
In this case, since they have no local network drive, it sounds like C4R could be the solution that would work for them. more info here:
