I tried opening a file that I was working on in the same revitlt 2016 on the same coputer I worked on yesterday and am getting the "cannot be opened in revit lt because it was last saved in a version of reivt prior to 8.1" I don't know how since I am on the same device using the same software and I need this project for a client tomorrow. HELP.

Did you by any chance open the file and/or save/modify it using a full Revit 2016 version (not LT)? It seem to be a reoccuring issue with LT version. Try to open it in a Full 2016 version (Educational works as well)

yes Educational does give a watermark when printing...but if modified and saved the file with anything other than Revit LT, I don't think you have any other choice but to continue with the full version (Educational or Subscription) unless Autocad Support can assist you in some way.

What you can do is try to find a backup which still works with LT

I had this same issue.

Problem: I created a file using a full version trial (2019) month later i tried to open the file using a 2020 LT. it would open.

Fix: I open an old back up. I had to add things that were not on my newest file, but at least I was able to get in there.

Opening the back-up is an option. However, it depends on how frequent the back-ups occur, and how fast a person works; ultimately you will lose hours in productivity. I would call this a work-around solution at best. Good luck and I hope that Revit LT fixes this issue. Very frustrating.

I am having the same issue. I have downloaded both Revit Lights on my desktop and loptop and am unable to open the file that I was working on my laptop. I have to work outside the office often and don't know what I should do.
