Hi
All i'm trying to do is create a new local file from a central model but the below notification keeps coming up. I haven't done anything technical to it, all i'm doing is following the Lynda tutorials religiously, and this isn't for a real job, just tutorials, so everything should be set up properly. The computer i'm using to try and create the local copy with is the same as the one i've used to make the central with - if that makes any difference.

Hi @Anonymous
I think the problem is , that central file was saved on the instructor pc as central file then he uploaded this file with another excercise files too and now you try to use this central file , so revit now think maybe that instructor pc in your network and you try to get a local file from his central file whose place has been changed ( it's just a guess ) .... so open this central file natively and save it again as central file and try again .
Ok that's it
, If you find this helpful , kindly accept as solution
Thanks for your reply but still not a solution. I tried it with a blank revit document as well, where I use my own template, save as a central model, close it, then try to open it as a local copy, and still the same error saying 'Revit cannot create a local copy from the central file'
Could it be there is a bug with Revit version 2019.1?
if you can open the central file natively and it opens without problems ,
so the problem is with writing the local file , make sure that your default path for user files is valid for writing files ( to do that > File tab >Options. Click the File Locations tab>then check the default path for user files and make it anythings rather than C drive or ( your windows installed drive ) ) and then try again

No bug.
Have you tried the obvious and restarted the computer?
Also, check the location that Revit is looking to create the local file in to make sure you have write access to it. Mine is not the default location. Unless you've changed it, it is your documents folder. I made my own for ease of access for clean up purposes.
