I am looking to break the dimension line in Revit when multiple dimensions overlap. This is not the Witness Line, but the line above which the dimension rests. Any thoughts on how to do this? Is it a tool I am missing?

Tab until you can highlight the dimension string then press the delete button? If that isn't it a picture would help.
Do you mean something like the "Dimension Break" in AutoCAD. Revit doesn't have something like this. Use Masking Region as workaround.
That's exactly what I'm requesting. You're right, Revit does not have the option. I will just hope for the future releases to have this.
Actually, the idea has been fielded before, but never got much traction/support. Personally, I avoid crossing extension lines. I'll do baseline to mitigate. And if I do have to cross, I don't break the line. I don't think I ever used the command in Autodesk either.
Why would Autodesk remove the option? It used to be available in 2016.
This happens often enough that it should not have been removed and the command should be reinstated.
Placing a mask is a work around. Although that's a nice way for the short term, but that should not be the answer.
The right thing to do is have a tool that works correctly according to the national cad standards.
Autodesk, please, bring the tool back.
Thanks
Remove? Revit has never had this ability. Nor is it an ANSI Y14 drafting standard.
2016 used to offer this feature.
I've been using Revit since Moses wore shorts, and I don't recall any such function. Now, AutoCAD does have this function. DIMBREAK.
FWIW: Your link goes to an AutoCAD-Mechanical page.
Barth, thanks for correcting me on these things. i actually looked up the NCS. It says avoid crossing dimension lines, but you may when avoidable. News to me.
It's a huge problem that what used to be common knowledge about best drafting practices is being lost to technology.
adding lines sure seems like a work around to me
verses making the dimensions have the functionality. It's not a big ask.
@ssimleness i agree. just thought id make the suggestion since it had not been mentioned here yet. People may prefer that workaround over a masked region.
But yes, it is a workaround still unfortunately and somewhat time consuming. It seems like it would be simple enough to allow users to use the "Split" function on dim witness lines just like you can on detail lines. However, here we are with Revit 2022 and that is just too much to ask for lol
Select the dimension line
Now the Dimension Line is broken into 2 parts.
