Hi everyone,
i have an issue with Revit Architecture 2012.
I upgraded my PC, formatted and reinstalled Windows 10, the installed Revit, but it keeps freezing every time i try to load a project or click on any button.
If i open a family it doesn't freeze but it does it with any project, even the built-in samples.
Sometimes it loads the project but then if i click on any button it freezes (doesn't crash) and i have to kill the process from task manager.
I applied the updates (1 and 2) but the problem is still there.
I have installed Autocad LT 2020 and Revit LT 2020 alongside the full Revit 2012, i tried removing them but it keeps freezing.
I tried disabling HW acceleration from Revit settings and even deactivating the GPU from device manager but that didn't solve the issue.
My specs are: Ryzen 7 3700X, Asus B550 PLUS, 16GB DDR4 3600Mhz, EVGA GTX 660 Ti, 600W Corsair PSU, Windows 10 Pro 2004.
Attached to this post you'll find the journal of a single run that ends with a freeze.
I hope somebody could help me solve the issue.
Thanks in advance.

2012 on W10? Not supported.
Sure, it survived all Windows 10 major updates, even the latest (2004).
BTW, i know it's not officially supported but i was looking for someone that had a similar problem or could find some clue from the log file...
It worked on an i7 3770 with 16GB of RAM and the same GPU, same Nvidia drivers and Windows version.
I only upgraded the motherboard, CPU and RAM so i guess it could be an issue with 8 core processors or with high speed DDR4 memory.
@Anonymous
Try running revit in compatibility mode (right click on Revit shortcut and run in compatibility mode)
this is what @nmarcelis talking about > right click revit icon > select properties and tick compability mode and see if helps. thanks
Try this https://www.windowscentral.com/how-make-old-desktop-apps-run-again-windows-10
But realize there is a chance Win10 is likely going to kill your old 2012 license like it does now for 2010 and older users: starting next March2021 Autodesk will end automatic reauthorizations, read all about it here https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/simplecontent/content/previous-ver...
So have a backup plan worked out today, don't end up like these folks https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/previous-version-support/bd-p/6051
Thanks everyone for the responses.
I already tried running Revit 2012 in compatibility mode and installing all available updates and hotfixes, but i couldn't fix the issue.
And as you said running it on Win 10 is a risk because even if i could make it work a future update would probably kill it again.
So i decided to install it on Windows 8.1 in VMware Player (on Win 7 HW acceleration doesn't work properly) and now it runs without crashing or freezing, 3D views are a bit slow and choppy and rendering isn't as fast but it's usable.
I didn't know activation for older products will be removed in the future, i hope updating VMware or upgrading my PC won't kill the license in the VM, i don't know how it's tied to underlying hardware.
I need Revit to work but i use it rarely so i don't want to spend hundreds of dollars a month for a subscription.
If i understood correctly there won't be a fallback activation method for old perpetual licenses after march 2021.
I hope this solution will last as long as possible.
