Revit 2024.3 Update - Revit crashes every time I export IFC!!!

Hi,

I installed the Revit 2024.3 Update today and it broke my Revit. When exporting IFC, Revit closes itself without giving an error message. And so every time, even with small projects. I need to export IFC today, how do I fix it?

I updated because the previous version didn't show glasses in random places in curtain wall. I found that it was reported back in July, but the answer was that no problem was found. But the problem is still there.

Oof! I just installed 2024.3 yesterday as well since it said it (Finally!) resolves the Schema issue.

No issue so far, but haven't done much today.

You probably want to open a support case.

Edit: do what safakbinici described below.

Also post what your specs are. Insufficient hardware doesn't always cost crashes... but it sure doesn't 'help. and since virtual memory was mentioned, make sure in windows virtual memory is set to  "Automatic" to let Windows decide.

I wrote to customer support. Let's see if they have a solution.
My colleague also installed this update. For her IFC export works fine. Although it has frozen a few times in the middle of the export, but at least it finishes the export and does not close Revit.

Hi @liina2DLM9,

There might be several reasons for the troubleshooting you are experiencing.

  1. I'd definitely do clear Revit's cache folder first and try again. Simply clean %temp% folder for Revit related files.
  2. If not, this might be related insufficient virtual memory in your pc. Before trying again I'd recommend to close if there are any other project models than you use in the same Revit session, any other programs running background or any heavy memory consumers such as Chrome.
  3. If still nothing changes, I'd recommend testing a simple .ifc file so we can make sure it's or it's not IFC.
    related.
  4. In your old version of Revit were you having the same issue?

Still nothing has fixed it.
* So for now I cleaned %temp% folder for Revit related files.
* Restarted my compute many times.
* Also I tested it with other small projects. (only Revit is open :leicht_lächelndes_Gesicht: ) It still crashes and closes Revit.
Before 2024.3 update IFC export worked perfectly. I never have had any issues that Revit crashes.
I haven't tried uninstalling and reinstalling yet.

Here are my computer specs:
Processor 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-11900F @ 2.50GHz 2.50 GHz
Installed RAM 128 GB (128 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
NVIDIA GeForce RTX3070
win 11

I see, your system requirements are awesome! Only two things left I presume.

  1. Before opening the model you use, you can follow through File>Open>Your Model and tick "Audit" then retry open.
  2. Wait for the support from Autodesk per @HVAC-Novice suggestion including the virtual memory feedback.

I did notice that the upgrade is not in the Access Portal - so wondering if they might have taken down with these issues?

Actually it never was in the  "Autodesk Access " app for me. I assume that app is a bit outdated. I only learned about it when I closed Revit, a type of Splash screen came up telling me about 2024.3 with a link to download it. i never had that happen before and assumed that is their way to tell me it is urgent.

ISSUE SOLVED: I deleted the Graphisoft add-in, IFC Model Exchange with Archicad for Revit.addin.

Now, the IFC export works.

When I initially installed this update, an error message appeared indicating issues with an add-in, but I didn’t pay close attention and just clicked "OK."

I checked the Add-In tab, and the Add-In Manager button was missing. Support suggested renaming the add-ins folder to disable them all. (Earlier, I had tried disabling the add-ins using the StantecAddinManager program, as recommended by support, but it didn’t disable everything.)

After disabling the add-ins, the IFC export worked again. Then, I restored all the add-ins and deleted only the Graphisoft add-in. Everything is still working fine.

Additionally, after installing the IFC Exporter for Revit 2024 update, it also fixed the curtain wall glass issue.

Thank you all for the advice!

Support gave me these following instructions:
