Revit 2023 Family Type is missing (wall type does not have a name)

I am using Revit 2023

An existing model

Walls Types are missing ( in Wall Properties there are no wall types to display )

In the Project Brower there are several in this condition (some have the backup2, backup3 and so on in the last part of there name.

An existing model from an older version or 2023 version?

Open the original in 2022 with audit.  Then try to open and upgrade it in 2023 again.

Question 1) Do you still have the previous version model and does it show similar behavior when opened in the older version Revit?

Question 2) especially if the answer to question 1 is yes... are the walls that you are referring to created as Model-in-place entities?

Model-in-place walls will appear like this in the project browser:

when selected in the project browser their properties will appear like this:

when the type is edited the dialog will look like this:

Oh, I see.

I think this could be the issue. Model in place walls can cause this.

I have made other changes that I need to keep. so I can not re-use the older version. but if I would have caught this sooner I would agree to this.

Also, should I just recreate the walls?

That's why I asked how they showed in Revit 2022 and you answered they showed "correctly".  If they are in place walls then they show the same in 2022 as well.

1. yes I do

2. I had to download the previous version 2022 in order to open it.

Some are mix, some show walls names correctly and some show modeled in place.

Are the same walls listed as true wall types in the project browser in both versions (shown under the Basic or Stacked Walls Families)?

If they are then there is no upgrade or other corruption issue. If they are not, then the previously mentioned auditing and other such gymnastics may be required.
A potential solution, if this last turns out to be the case, would be to audit the 2022 version in 2022, then upgrade it to 2023, then open the previously upgraded (and audited if you haven't already done so) 2023 version, then copy/paste elements as required to fix what you can.

Out of curiosity, did any of the Model-in-place walls come from an IFC file (or other import generated by some other program)?
