Hello all,
I have a question about the Linework Tool being used on a Linked CAD file underlay. When I use the tool to make invisible lines (I want to turn off only certain portions or areas of linework in the CAD file), it works in the view I am in and for the current session. But when I close the revit cloud file and re-open it, all of the linework items re-appear. Is there any way to make this action stay on for the view permanently? Or is there another way to do this without having to change the background cad file ? (The layers that this small portion of linework is on would affect the entire background cad file if I use the visibility graphics to hide a layer).
Thank you for any tips or assistance.
G.

Barthbradley, that box is checked.
That box only keeps/removes overrides via VG and Query, has nothing to do with using Linework tool.
To make it work, link the DWG in an in place model family such as a Generic Model, then the Linework tool overrides stay intact.

How would you do that?
Architectural tab > Component drop down > Model In-Place > choose a category (suggest Generic Models) > Link DWG normally > Finish.
So you would have to do this before the drawing is linked in the revit file? I ask because my cad drawing is already linked, and if I have to redo a new link it will undo many sheets and layer settings (tons of work).

Unfortunately yes.
As a general recommendation, always link DWG in a family (in place or loadable) instead of directly in the model.
There has to be another way to do this. You should not have to do a 'special' (meaning linking a file inside of a generic family in the model) type of linking for a CAD file for the linework tool to work.
