Hi everyone,
In some of our computers, when we use material browser, Revit is working well (not slow at all) but fans begin to ventilate very fast and it makes a lot of noise. Otherwise in Revit, everything is normal, thus problem seems to be related to material browser only.
Moreover, if we do exactly the same manipulation in material browser on other computers, Revit is OK and ventilation is normal.
This problem is not related to Revit Plugins because I moved the folder containing all plugins (to unload them at the start of Revit) and problem is still there.
Did anyone ever face this issue? If yes, how did you solve this problem ?
Computer concerned :
Manufacturer: Dell Inc.Model: Precision 3630 TowerSKU: 0871Memory: 16 GBProcessor: Intel Xeon E-2274G CPU @ 4.00GHzMotherboard: Dell Inc. 0Y2K8N
Graphics: Intel(R) UHD Graphics P630 1 GB
Microsoft Remote Display Adapter
NVIDIA Quadro P2200 4 GB
Thank you in advance.
Sincerely.
Changing the View type in the Material Browser to Text View solved that for our Dell boxes
I think you are experiencing this issue. It did tax the CPU.
For us it was the Dell machines, didn't happen on other boxes or older Dells. Revit 2019 and 2020. Sounded like an airplane taking off
Hi,
Thank you for your replies.
@rmoore1 : Your workflow (changing the View type in the Material Browser to Text View) works well for now, our airplaine-computers do not take off anymore ! As you mentionned, only newer DELL computers are concerned by this issue. Do you know what is the technical origin of this problem?
@pendean : What are my expectations ? Understand what is going on. Material browser is not something that seems to consume resources (for me). And the fact that old DELL computers are not concerned is strange.
For now, we will use @rmoore1 's trick. Thank you again for this workflow ![]()
Sincerely.
How new are the newer DELLs? Try install the the older Direct X legacy package from Microsoft. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
