Revit 2021 - Issue with opening a specific project for a specific user

Hello everyone,

We're currently experiencing a very specific issue with Revit 2021 which we can't find the solution for in other troubleshooting articles on the internet.

The issue started with an add-in not working accordingly. When opening any project in Revit 2021 (and also Revit 2022 with the same add-in) the program would crash with a .NET Framework error talking about JIT Debugging. Removing the add-in would allow us to open projects without this error. Unfortunately, the add-in was necessary for our workflow and we had to find a solution to get it to work again. We contacted the creator of the add-in, but they couldn't provide a working solution. We decided to uninstall the add-in and Revit 2021 and reinstall both of them.

This seemed to be the solution until the specific colleague that had to use the add-in, logged in with their user profile again. Revit would now give the error 'Autodesk Revit has stopped working' when opening the same project. We tried different solutions we could find on the internet. Clearing the %temp% folder, etc. Another reinstall of Revit got it working again until restarting the PC. Now the error disappears and Revit would just close around 70% of loading the project.

Other projects are able to open without an issue on that specific computer and profile with the add-in installed. The project that 'crashes' opens perfectly fine on other computers with the same add-in installed, but refuses to open on that specific computer, shutting down Revit without warning on every attempt.

We're currently considering creating an entire new user profile for the colleague, followed by reinstalling Windows on the computer to see if that fixes anything. Any suggestions to potentially fix this issue before taking these two steps would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
