Revit 2021: How to retrieve deleted level views from “Floor Plans” and side views from “Elevations”?

Revit 2021: How to retrieve deleted level views from “Floor Plans” and side views from “Elevations”?

For example, in the screenshot below, Level 1 and Level 2 have been deleted from “Floor Plans,” and the East, West, and North views have been deleted from “Elevations.”

How can they be retrieved?

Since the views can be easily created and faster than any attempt at recovery. What is it in those views that you really after, settings, annotation?

You can copy/paste annotation from the views in a backup copy as long as you open both models in the same session of Revit. View settings are probably easier to recreate than to jump through the hoops to transfer which might not work as expected if you have links.

I still have the 3D and south views, as shown in the screenshot above. So, how can the floor plan and elevation views be retrieved?

As @RSomppi stated, create new Views for the ones that were deleted, if you just need to have the floor plan and elevation views you note.  You will be starting from scratch with regard to annotation in those Views.

If you are trying to recover previously created annotation, then the question becomes one of how recently were those Views deleted, how much other work would you lose if you rolled the model back to a time before those Views were deleted, and can you even get back to that point?  Is this a cloud-hosted project or are your models hosted on your network or your local drive?  If you are not on the cloud, how many previous versions are you set to retain?  If you are on your network, are previous versions of files available through the network operating system or some other form of periodic backups?

My inquiry is straightforward:

  1. Level 1 and Level 2 have been deleted, yet they still appear in the south view. How can I retrieve them to display under 'floor plans'?
  2. The north, west, and east elevation views have been deleted, but the 3D view remains. How can I retrieve them to display under 'elevations'?

More information is needed as your request is not straightforward as stated because views cannot be "retrieved".

You need to go to a backup version to retrieve the views or, more accurately, the annotation. Otherwise just recreate the views.

Do you need to learn how to create views?

Azad Nanva's answer is the nearest to what I’m looking for. I could retrieve “level 2” and look down to see “level 1.” However, it appears that “level 1” is not retrievable.

He's telling you to create a new view, like I am. Maybe it's a language thing but retrieve is not the correct word here. In order to retrieve a view, you would need to find a backup model where it exists. It sounds like you just need to create the views because you have not said anything about them having existed before.

Correct. It should be language issue.

Then how can i re-create views for the deleted ones?

I have no clue how to retrieve or recreate the deleted level 1 in the same way level 2 is retrieved

Uncheck "Do Not Duplicate Existing views".

Amazing! It works like a charm. Both the deleted Level 1 and Level 2 have been retrieved. Now, how can the north, east, and west elevations be retrieved?

Add more elevations or select the elevation symbol and check the boxes.

Showing the arrow doesn’t bring same elevation line as the one for the south
