Is it replicable behavior? Is it happening in all Projects or just one?

It is project specific.

Thanks Ennu,

I have tried auditing the file.  I have also performed numerous other health checks as well.

  • Purged all unused.
  • Checked all loaded families for errors & size.
  • Exploded all model & detail groups.
  • Removed ‘Realistic’ views & changed all fine detail views to course or medium.
  • Removed all external in-place models.
  • Removed all links.
  • Removed worksets & saved the file as a non-workshared file.
  • Tried changing the ‘offending’ wall types to basic walls.
  • Tried editing the structural layers of the ‘offending’ wall type.
  • Recreated the ‘offending’ wall types in a new Revit project and tried transferring them back into the project.
  • Linked the model into a new Revit project and tried binding it.
  • Uploaded the model to our BIM 360 platform, to see if creating a fresh central in the cloud would help.
  • Upgraded the model to Revit 2022.

Unfortunately, none of the above seemed to make any difference.

Can you upload the file sample so we can see if we run into the same issue?

Unfortunately not. It is one of our client's models, which would be a breach of confidentiality.

Thank you though.

Hello we have also started to encounter this very issue using Revit 2021.  We are unsure what the route cause is.

We have cleared the BIM360 cache, audited the model, removed redundant rooms and still this issue keeps occuring.

Regards

Ricky

Hi Ricky,

This issue was a very frustrating one to troubleshoot because in order to test the model after changing something, the model would hang/freeze when I tried editing or deleting a wall.  I used this wall as a testing point, and so I had to force close my Revit countless times to find the route cause of the fault.

In this case, I narrowed it down to a single corrupt plan view.  Once this view was removed the problem was solved.

So I'd suggest that you try removing all the views in the project, and test to see if it helps.  If it helps then you can start removing sets of views until you narrow it down to the culprit.

Hope this helps.
