I am currently working in Revit 2020 on a file which is hosted in BIM 360 Design. I am able to open the file from the Revit 2020 home screen. However, if I want to use the "Insert from File" command, the BIM 360 icon is not visible from the left sidebar menu, and I am not able to access any files which are saved to BIM 360 Design. I did not have this problem with Revit 2019; it only became an issue after I downloaded Revit 2020. Is there a fix for this issue?
In addition, I am no longer able to open a BIM 360 Design file from the "open" drop down menu, which is very annoying. How do I get the BIM 360 Design icon to appear in this menu on the left sidebar?
Hi @alanrchrist,
I checked in my Revit 2020 on the Insert tab, I am able to select "Insert from File" and then select a file from BIM 360 through Windows File Explorer (Not on the left but under. What happens when you select a file this way?
Do you have the Autodesk Desktop Connector? It could be that you're not seeing the files if you do not have Autodesk Desktop Connector installed. I have Autodesk Desktop Connector installed.
Regarding BIM 360 icon not appearing after selecting File > Open from within Revit 2020, the way to access cloud models in Revit 2020 has been moved into Revit Home. I'm not aware of a way to change it back to the 'old' way of opening BIM 360 files through File > Open in Windows File Explorer.

I don't know what you mean by "not on the left but under". When I click on Insert from File under the Insert menu, it brings up the "Open" window. BIM 360 is not available as an option on the left sidebar of this menu, nor is it visible in the main folder tree of the "Open" menu.
I'm downloading Autodesk Desktop Connector now, so maybe this will work.
Hi @alanrchrist,
Sounds good. I look forward to hearing how it goes. Ah, mistype on my end. When clicking 'Insert file from' I can see BIM 360 under My computer > Devices and drives.

Hi @alanrchrist,
Did installing Autodesk Desktop Connector make a difference?
Thank you.

Hi @alanrchrist
Were you able to select the file once Desktop Connector was installed? What did not work? Did you receive an error message?
Thanks.

Hi @alanrchrist,
After selecting 'Insert file from', how are you accessing BIM 360 in the Windows File Explorer? Can you create a screencast?
Thanks.

Hi @alanrchrist,
Just checking back on my last follow up. Are you able to gather the items from my earlier post?
Thank you.
