We keep getting a recurring problem where after we have set the project location it automatically resets to the default
We are based in Sydney AU and our template has the location set to default to Circular Quay. When we create a project we update the Location to suit the project, but then at random times it will reset itself back to the default settings in Boston. The description gets set to "User Defined"
This is causing problems for solar studies and a few other things as well.
I've just set 10 models up across 2 new project this morning and already 2 of them have reset... the others seem to be fine. We have had users report this previously and we have assumed that it was their error somewhere along the way at first, but we have been able to repeat it and prove that it wasn't user error.
Is this a known bug...?
check here previous thread and see if helps. thanks

Thanks for the reply @ennujozlagam , but unfortunately that doesn't help.
We have a combination of methods... when we create a project we do this using the Revit API via a python script, and sometimes that works just fine... in some random cases it resets back to BOSTON even though the default in our company template is at Circular Quay, in Sydney
Other projects where the location has been set or reset manually back to it's correct geographical location, it then resets, maybe not immediately but a few days or weeks later. One particular project has been particularly stubborn and every time the team open the solar study views, the whole place is in darkness, we've had to respond to this 2 or 3 times on this one project.![]()
Hi @RDAOU ,
This isn't a shared parameter issue... this is the site location data that Latitude and Longitude stored in the model which is used for Solar studies and we also capture it for plotting projects geographically on a world map. We have a lot of projects in Boston! ![]()
We are using Revit 2020 and yes all up to date with latest hotfixes. We have other versions of Revit across the studio, but this only seems to be happening in Revit 2020.
We always keep the PBP at the Internal Origin, the Survey Point goes where it needs to when we publish coordinates, we just turn this off, rarely if ever relocate it.
Thanks
I didnt even mention shared parameters. I said shared COORDINATES and shared sites with other linked models.
Such behavior is usually triggered/caused by a plugin or a dynamo/python script either when shared sites are not set up properly or due to a bug in the code. If you are using any, you might want to consider disabling and/or check codes.

Sorry @RDAOU My Bad... I meant to say Shared Coordinates... (mis-type/Brain fart!)
The Code has been working reliably over versions 2019 and 2020, it could be Addins, we have a few installed and it could be an update to one of those I guess that could have caused the anomalie ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thanks
Your python script may have executed Transfer Project Standards > Project Info: from a US Template or a Template/Project with the Boston Location.
No
We didn't Transfer Project Standards... either on the previous projects or the ones I had setup today.
but thanks anyway ![]()
