Have a lab setup in my School. File Menu button will not respond. It works fine under the administrator accounts. The student accounts the button will not open anything.

Often, it is not permitted to change the security level of users to admin. If this is the case, maybe they can try to set the permissions on c:\program files\Autodesk and update it so Users have Modify permission to that folder and its subfolders. Since Revit is a subfolder it will adopt those settings. That might be enough permissions for the non-admin users to bypass the issue.

Did you do that for all project, template, family, and any other folders that Revit needs access to?

Rob

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

@Anonymous have you seen this AKN article about setting an application to run with admin privileges?

That works. However the student still needs to put the domain admin password in to use the program. I tried setting permissions to the AutoCAD folder. Not sure what permissions the admin account is needed to open up the file button. So weird.

I am also having this problem. I am accessing revit via a school computer lab. Does anyone have any other ideas of what we can do?

Thanks! It worked!

For others that are struggling with this problem: I originally checked the
update on the desktop manager and it didn’t show up, had to go to the
website and directly download the update.
