Revit 2020 - Disappearing Sub-Disciplines

Morning,

We are working on a project that was started in Revit 2019 and has been updated to Revit 2021.1.1, where it will now stay until completion.

We use sub-disciplines to organise the project browser (ie. we assign certain sub-disciplines to views to allow us to  group them together) and since the upgrade, some views have "lost" their assigned sub-discipline and moved to the unassigned "???" category.

My team has reassigned them and a few days later it seems to go missing again.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and know of a way to prevent it in future?

Hi @madeleinelouw ,

Is it an option to include "Sub Discipline" in the View Template.

Then it will be assigned and it will be filled in so that the view is no longer under the "???" appeared.

I'll bet it is the {3D} View that is "???".  This is pretty common.

Hi @mpeperkamp, the Sub-discipline is actually included in the View Template, but it reverts the whole batch of views back to ??? without any of the team changing it.

It's never happened before and now 3 times in two weeks with different users.

We keep naming the sub-discipline, and the ghost in the machine keeps erasing it.

Is it possible that it's a 2021 bug? (I apologise for the Title to this post; as it's suppose to say Revit 2021. Not sure how to change it after the fact)

Sjoewie, the original template was created in 2013 and is upgraded every year.

This specific project was started and created on the 2019 version of that template.

@ennujozlagam Any advise on how to get rid of this issue?

And on a side note; is it necessary to create a new template from scratch every year?

have you try to open the original template to the latest version of revit and save? i'm not saying you need to create template every version of revit ? what i'm trying to say it could be the reason as your template is old version? because latest version has a new interface and it could not be adaptable? have your try to use project transfer select all you need and see if helps. thanks
