Hi guys
Quick question for the Revit experts:
If I have a wall sweep (cladding repeated to cover a 20m high wall), how can I auto cut the sweep to only be as high as the wall, taking into account the wall can be varied heights.
Alternatively, if I have my cladding sweep simplified to only be a single element of about 150mm high, how can I auto-repeat it to cover the height of the wall, without stretching the cladding, but repeating it, again taking into account the wall can have varying heights?
Can I ask why you want to do the overcladding as a Sweep? I'm not saying it's right or wrong- just would like to learn of your thought process with this?
Is there the possibility you are going to want / need to schedule the individual panels in the cladding?
No particular reason for doing it as a sweep. If there is an easier way to do it, then by all means, tell me please. It won't be scheduled, its purely for modelling and visualisation purposes.
Its for horizontal cladding, like siding on US houses, or sinusodal cladding for warehouses.
This sort of thing:

A few different options you could use here.
I may be inclined to do it as an embedded curtain wall- embedded into your Basic Wall type. Especially as you said the height of the cladding can differ along the length of the elevation.
The use of curtain walls will allow you to divide it into panel lengths.
You can create a custom curtain panel to model the profile of the cladding
Could you point me to some more info on this please?
Last time I had to use Revit for modelling was with version 6.5 back in 2004...
The height of the wall doesnt vary along the length, but I do have different walls that are at different heights, needing the same cladding
This will get you into the basic of Curtain Walls.
Then you will need to create your curtain panel- the complexity of this can vary depending on how much detail to want in your cladding.
Hope this helps
Hi @Morne3D ,
Thank you for sharing your question.
As mentioned above, in this case the use of curtain walls would be recommended. However, if you want to use basic walls then probably you will need to create the sweeps before shaping the walls or changing the heights. See video.
Please let me know if this helped or if you have any additional questions.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
I'll revisit this idea again at a later date and look into doing it with curtain walls as suggested.
In the meantime, Max and Railclone works fine for my needs.
