Revit 2019 toposurfaces not showing shadows

We have a Revit 2019 site model with toposurfaces into which a building model is linked.  When "cast shadows" is turned on for the site plan views, the buildings cast shadows on floor objects/walkways, but do not cast shadows on the toposurfaces.

I've searched on this topic and I can't find out why it's acting that way. In Sun Settings, we have Ground Plane at Level unchecked.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Try adjusting Ground Plane

Thanks, but that creates shadows but not accurate shadows. They're just cast on that imaginary plane. We would like the shadows to accurately reflect the changing topography.

-As a quick test, model a Floor w/ shape-edited points to give it some "topo- like" surfaces.

-Then see if the shadows cast correctly/as expected on the floor. If the shadows look correct on the floor, but not the toposurface, it might indicate that Revit doesn't calculate shadows ( correctly or at all?) for toposurfaces.

How much slope does the toposurface have?

Sorry...Your settings are correct then (no Ground Plane). You might find more accurate shadowing is a Top 3D View with those settings.

@Anonymous: just wondering if there is that much relief on topo that will be distinguished with shadowing .  You may try turn off your contour lines and seeing how the topo renders in 3D.

Thanks. That 3D view from the Top worked and the shadows now cast accurately on both floor objects (exterior plaza decks) and the rolling topography. Thanks alot. That really had me stumped.

And thank you back for the lil' green check mark.   I'd be interested in seeing how she looks now, if you care to post a picture.

Cheers!

Here is a JPG of the 3D top view site plan with shadows casting on the toposurfaces. Thanks again.
