Revit 2019.1 Opening Screen Error Message

I've just upgraded to Revit 2019.1 and have been getting an error message when I open the program.  It just says "Something went wrong.  Please try again later."

It doesn't explain what went wrong or what part of the program is affected and all my cloudshared models open fine.  Does anyone know what this means?

Not installed the update yet. But I assume it is some information for the opening screen. I expect it is trying to pull some information from a (Autodesk) website which fails resulting in the error message. This would have not influence on your project files.

You might try to look in your journal file to see if more information is mentioned about it.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

What is your default browser?  I believe the start screen is still HTML based...it may have something to do with that?

Hi @Shane_Fitz

I'm checking back to see if you've had a chance to go through the previous replies and send us your data for investigation.

Apologies for the delay.

My default browser is Edge.  Unfortunately, I wouldn't know what to look for in a journal file.  I scanned it but it's opaque to me.

@Viveka_CD, can you send me a private folder to send you the journal file?

Thanks,

Shane

Hi @Shane_Fitz

Did you sign in to your accounts account with two user ID's?

Also please upgrade your driver for your graphics card -  Nvidia Quadro K2200 from the manufacturer's website

Your files are being investigated for a resolution. I'll update if I have more information.

Regards,

Hi @Shane_Fitz

Here is some more feedback from the team and recommendations to try to resolve your issue.

Can you check the below for me?

1. Please make a backup copy of your revit.ini ( C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 2019 ) and then edit the original and clearing out the files that appear under [Recent File List]

It may be that one of your files (maybe the cloud work sharing models in your list) is triggering the error.

2. The issue may also be connected to a log in the issue - can you verify that you are logging in correctly with the same user ID.  It appears like something you are trying to load or connect to isn't working and if it is happening every time please check that you are logged in correctly. (with the right user ID)

Looking forward to your reply update!

Regards,

Hi Viveka,

I have edited the revit.ini file as suggested, but the problem persisted.

I then signed out of my Autodesk account, closed the program and reopened.  The error didn't appear this time.  I then signed in to my Autodesk account (the same one as this one) and the issue reappeared.  I assume it is something to do with my account, but I'm not sure hat it could be.

Regards,

Shane

Hi @Shane_Fitz

Thanks for your quick response.

There is a possibility that this can be an accounts issue. I'll let the dev team know about this and follow up for any updates.

You said you have not encountered this in any other versions? Is that correct? Does this occur for all users on your team? Have you tried a repair of Revit?

Any recent windows updates installed? Antivirus programs that may interfere? Any new third-party addins in Revit.

Apologies on the delay.

There are no new addins or updates and it isn't affecting other team members.  I will try the repair of Revit when I have a spare hour.

Thanks,

Shane

Go into your Revit.ini file and clear out all your recent files...especially any mapped drive locations....there may be a recent file that is mapped to a location that doesn't exist anymore.

Hi @Shane_Fitz

The below article has been created and the issue is under investigation:

Error: "Something went wrong. Please try again later" when launching Revit

The issue has been identified as a bug and the team on is working on the resolution. Any updates will be added to the incident number.

Sorry to hear that the repair did not work. This error usually occurs due to an unstable connection.

Please try a clean uninstall and reinstall if the application and let me know if this helps!
