I'd be concerned if I hired someone who uses old software..... if you are subscribed you may have access to older versions, but only if you were subscribed during those former years. Like, if you subscribe today the first time, you likely only have access to 2023. If you started your subscription last year, you would have access to 2022 and 2023 and so on. Contact your Autodesk seller for specifics. I suspect it will depend on the region and your specific subscription history. Larger companies may get special deals.
Upgrading a model (and all linked models) takes time. But the computer does all the work! Don't feel sorry for the PC, it is built to do that mundane work! The user can use the PC for other tasks while Revit upgrades. You just can't use Revit during that time.
I actually welcome the subscription model since it forces employers to keep up to date. Out of all the software we use in a company, the ones that are old are the ones causing problems with newer OS and other integrations. We here have a 2010 SharePoint version and it ruins our modern Bluebeam experience when opening PDF. i hope the new subscription World will avoid such silliness. Plus the security issues and new features you miss out on. Like 4K for Revit, better multi-core use and 1000 other new features since 2018.
