Can't see that this is a solution. Linking to a post saying it's possible to download plugins? As far as I can see there is still no .stl exporter for Revit 2018 or am I missing something?

@zhukoven, Thanks, I'll have to go pretty high up the food chain in my organisation, but at least I know where to look.

@Magnus.B

Sorry that the links I provided in my previous post were not direct, but these have a series of links that take you right there as mentioned by @zhukoven

@zhukoven you are spot on!Smiley Happy

The first link takes you here: Install Updates, Add-ons, and Enhancements

Then from the management link - search for product updates - STL exporter

Cheers!

@Viveka_CD Do you know the reason it't been moved from autodesk app store to subscriptions? Apps under subscriptions are much harder to get since it's not available to all users, especially in large organizations.

Hi @Magnus.B

Yes, the availability for the Revit 2015, 206, 2017 STL exporters are on the appstore and Revit 2018 STL on the account page.

I have forwarded your query to the product team responsisble for appstore extensions. I'll update if I have futher feedback from the team.

Hi there @Magnus.B

Here's an update from the Revit product team for why certain apps are moved from the Autodesk app store to subscriptions/account management.

  • In 2018, we standardized the way we deliver Autodesk build add-ins as a policy.
  • This was intended to make the delivery consistent going forward, but also support the approved ways to deliver products.
  • We provide two options for install/download of add-ins, one is through accounts (for admins) and the other is through the Autodesk Desktop App (for individuals).
  • We also took the step in 2018 to move many add-ins to the ootb install so that they don't require a separate download/install.

Regards,

Thanks @Viveka_CD I suspected that there was a policy shift.

Hi @Anonymous

Are you using the same credentials you've used to request the 2018 version as the same one you're using at this time to log into your Autodesk Account?

Hi @maxV2MCX

I'm sorry to hear that.

Please see AKN article:

Missing products or updates in Autodesk Account and Autodesk desktop application

You can also post on the Installation and licensing forum for further feedback.

I am an educator so we download for free now. In the past, we had to purchase the software. So am I to understand that the ability to save a Revit file as a .stl so we can have students 3D Print their drawing is no longer available? Because I can't find this "add-on". In the past, I believe I could save as a .stl format was an option for when we 3d printed student work.
