I installed revit 2018 student version and I have multiple problems. My ribbon is invisible. The buttons show up when I hover above them with my cursor. Also, the pictrograms aren't sharp at all.
I've had the same problem with revit 2017 and nobody was able to help me, but finally I found out that Dynamo was the problem with the 2017 version. I uninstalled it and everything went okay since then.
I tried to do the same with the 2018 version, but this time it didn't solve anything. I'm really disappointed in this version.
Could be a graphics card / driver problem.
Try updating your driver.
Also experiment with Hardware Acceleration in R ( Revit button in upper left corner of screen) > Options > Graphics
Don't just assume that "Revit 2018 is bad"--since many users are running it just fine.
Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I don't have time for that. I hoped for a quick fix or a good explanation.
So I uninstalled 2018 and re-installed 2017 and deleted the 2017 Dynamo version. Everything is allright now. I was just wondering how it is possible that the 2017 version works without any problem and the 2018 has a large list of problems. And it turns out I'm not the only one.
Kind regards
Curd
Hi @Anonymous
Welcome to the Autodesk community!![]()
This issue happens sometimes when the installation is corrupt. There may be circumstances where Autodesk Revit 2018 products need to be removed from the workstation to allow for a clean installation. The following process will ensure all residual files are properly removed as well.
See article on: Revit 2018: How to Complete a Clean Install and Uninstall of Revit products
Also, your Revit version should have the latest updates installed on your desktop app.
Also, see system requirements for your Revit and windows version and check if you have certified hardware

Glad you got 2017 running properly.
FWIW--the steps I mentioned for 2018 take about 1/2 hour; well worth the time.
New software updates/tools often require hardware/driver updates--this is true with many applications, not just Revit. ![]()
I think your problem is very simple.
Please check attached screencast.

Dear Viveka
I uninstalled my working revit 2017 and downloaded 2018 to see wether the installation would be faulty. It wasn't. I checked my graphics card, it's a GeForce GTX. The computer guy at our institution said it should work since the 2017 worked fine, but he also told me that the 2018 isn't really worth downloading if I'm happy with the 2017 version.
REVIT 2017 Always did the thing for me, so I'm glad I still have this version working.
When the time is right I will install a newer version of REVIT and hope it will work.
I'll accept something as a solution thought there wasn't really found one, but I guess I have to close the discussion.
I'm helped with installing 2017, so this is fine for me. I just hope this issue can be seen as some feedback to the REVIT community.
Kind Regards
Curd
Yeah, great. Solve a problem by ignoring it.
