I seem to have a recurring issue with Revit 2018.
I'm currently working on a 4 storey building with 3 of 4 floors being the same.
Rather than re-drawing new walls, doors, ceilings, etc. I added them to a model group which I had no issue copying on the same level (Floor 2), as soon as I tried copying them to floors 3 & 4 I would get a whole bunch of errors saying that I should ungroup & make new groups or that it made new walls/ceiling types. I have over 40 suites & for it to create new walls.ceiling is just a huge hassle... I'm looking for a simple solution or some sort of advice.
Are the floor to floor heights exactly the same at each Level?
If not, the groups may be behaving badly as the walls are not the same height at each floor.
Make sure that no walls in the Group are Attached to a ceiling or floor.
Check for any "wall hosted" families such as plumbing fixtures, specialty equipment, etc.
These can cause problems in Groups when trying to Copy or Mirror the Group. "Face based" or "Non-Hosted" families will work better in Groups which are copied many times in a Project.
All the floor heights are the same at each level & I made sure that they aren't attached to a floor or ceiling.
In one of my groups, the only thing that is hosted are my lighting fixtures and they are hosted to the ceiling in the group.
What method did you use to Copy/Paste the Group?
-Did you try Copy/Paste to Selected Levels?
-Did you try Copy/Paste Aligned to Current View?
-or did you copy manually with the Copy Command, in a Section or Elevation?
As a quick test,
Try creating a New Project, in the same session of Revit. Then, copy/paste into the New Project, and try copying to multiple Levels.
What are the results?
