The Autodesk Desktop App suggested I install the 2018.3 update for Revit this morning. All appeared to be running fine until near the end when I got a message which stated:
"The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Collaboration for Revit 2018\Setup. The installation cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator."
I navigated to the folder and saw that the Setup folder was not there. I did hit retry several times and got the message. I cancelled the install and tried to launch Revit.
It had a series of popup messages:
-
Failed to initialize the add-in "CollaborateDB" because the assembly "" does note exist.
-
Failed to initialize the add-in "Collaborate" because the assembly "[TARGETDIR]Collaborate.dll does not exist.
-
Failed to initialize the add-in "CollaborateBrowser" because the assembly "[TARGETDIR]CollaborateBrowser.dll" does not exist.
-
Failed to initialize the add-in "SkyscraperClientHostApplication" because the assembly "[TARGETDIR]SkyscraperCllientHost.dll" does not exist.
So I added the Support folder manually, retried the install. It completed without complaint. I restarted Revit and it started up without error messages.
This post is just in case someone else has the same issue. Be sure to add the Support folder manually and continue with installation.
