Revit 2018.2 PDF printing Quality Issue

Hii,

I have a problem when printing to PDF in revit 2018.2. Please see the attached pics. The bars and other lines are bulgy. it is always printing with the  line weight even if I select the  ''Thin line'' option.  its is not what I see in revit. I tried with cute pdf, Pdf creator, DoPDF, Bio pdf etc. and even checked with DWF exporter. Still the result is same. I don't have any problem with pdf printing when I was using revit 2017.

You are zooming in too much on the pdf file!

You should either print the pdf on a larger scale in Revit or "tell" the pdf writer you are using to print in a higher resolution/dpi

Example.

First picture is my rebar drawing scale to fit to A3

Rebar.JPG

Second one is on a smaller scale.

Rebar2.JPG

If you zoom in on this one it doesn't look very good. But the pdf writer was set to a resolution of 300dpi

If you set the pdf writer to 1200 dpi the result is much better.

Any news about this problem, I'm still printing with bad quality, and some colleagues are telling me that this is only out of my file... what possibly can be the issue with my file?

I wonder what you mean with bad quality.

Can you post or mail me the pdf made by Revit?

When I zoom the pdf the Lines start getting over each other, especially on the windows. And the lines stay wide in really they are thin. I'll send you the Revit file too.

Seems perfectly logical to me.

Your pdf is size A3.

A3 is 420 by 297mm

Your smallest pen size is 0.1mm and your windows are using this size.

If I look at a portion of your window you can see it is only 1mm wide (print size)

1mm equals  10 times 0.1mm (so if you draw 10 lines this would be black)

If you change your pen size to 0,025 (smallest possible size) it is better.

You cannot print on A3 and expect endless zooming capabilities.

Print on bigger paper and bigger scales.

For the windows you should work with details.

For 1/100 scaling you should set what to display in what scalings.

Then you already know the solution and you should buy or rent Adobe printer.

Acrobat Pro is not that expensive.

It would be nice if Autodesk would implement a vectorial pdf printer but for now they don't.

Maybe next release..

Thank you,

I fixed the line weight and spacing also I printed with CutePDF with 4000 dpi and the quality was pretty good.

Hello!

For me it prints pretty well in raster mode.

But i need vector output and revit inverts the order of the lines. Vectors that are in Back goes to Front, Thats the problem. (I m using adobe pro)

Really dont know how to fix. Normally design software shouldnt have this kind of problems.....

HELP PLS

Issue is not the scale. I have the same problem.

I am printing at 100% scale, 600dpi, vector, and you can't even tell if the image is an elevation / plan it is so pixelated.

Never had this issue prior to 2018.

1.PNG

2.PNG

Here are 2 example screenshots. The first is an elevation missing 90% of the lines and text, the other is an example of how it produces 3D images.  as you can see, they are both complete trash.

Hi @Anonymous, @Viveka_CD,

I fed up with Revit PDF Printing. Always printing with Thick lines even if the Thin line option is switched on. So I Always exporting to AutoCAD and Printing PDF from there. Very crisp and sharp view.

These two pdfs cannot be vector. One is with shadow and one is a realistic visual style so that they must be printed in raster even you can tick the vector box. Try set the raster quality to presentation and crank up the pdf quality to 1200 or more dpi. Try a few different pdf printers too. Some can be better than others.

the view was 'consistent colours', not realistic.  will that still effect vector vs. raster?
