Revit 2018.2 - Family text different size/width than project text

We are having the same issue. It's happening on ONE of our computers.

All new computers with all the latest updates. Revit 2018.2, Windows 10.

Same model, same drawing, prints fine on all computers except 1.

Issue occurs no mater what font I use. Same fonts also print fine in 2017 on the computer with the problem in 2018.2.

Is the correct font installed on the errant machine? Compare the contents of the Windows Fonts folder on both.

This was not a font issue. As I said, all new computers, all updates installed. The computers were all set up at the same time using the same install.

The problem appears to be a Windows issue. For some very strange reason, if I log in as myself on the computer with the font problem everything prints fine.

If I adjust the font to 101% on the user that's having the problem everything prints fine.

Problem solved for now

Hi @Anonymous

I'm glad to note that the issue is resolved for now, but the font display resolution change is a temporary solution, we have to look closer at your journals and system files.

Can you share the journal and Revit file with us (one journal from your co-worker and one from the machine where it prints fine)? I can send you a private folder to upload. Also, share some screenshots from the same - It will help investigate this behavior.

This issue is seen in cases where the font wrapping changes when editing various zoom levels, etc

The new text component in Revit 2018 renders text slightly differently and results in some fonts getting slightly wider and some fonts getting slightly narrower.  This is often not noticeable, but in cases where a line of text in very very close to wrapping, the slightly wider font might cause a wrap–which is what has happened in few instances.

To fix it you, can either stretch the box of the text note (or label) slightly to accommodate this and not wrap.  Or you can make the text slightly smaller.  In the latter case, you can change the text from 3.000 mm to 2.970 mm and the wrap is quelled.

Looking forward to your reply.

Regards,

If you have an IT person handy...  have them reset the user profile in windows.    That usually means renaming the current user profile to  .old rather than deleting it in case you need to copy files like favorites, desktop items, etc.

We get windows user profile errors in our firm every few months.

In my case one of 3 virtual machines that we run as plot servers had this issue.... so I reset the revit profile to no use... and then renamed the windows profile, restarted, and it made a new temp profile.   Renamed the .old back to its normal self... restarted, and the font issue went away entirely.

Hope that helps.   I would not keep the 101% font size if I were you... lol.... seems a little unorthodox, but if it worked for a temporary fix... glad to hear it worked....
