Hi @fkm

I have started a new discussion for your issue.

you wrote:

I have just installed Revit 2018.2 in the hope that it could solve the problem - but unfortunately not.

It means that i must go throw all my sheet familys, tags, schedule an so on in my template - if there is no solutions to this problem, ore I must wait for a 2018.3 version.

We have also skipped 2017 version in my company.

A few questions to troubleshoot your issue:

  • Do you have linked dwgs in your Revit model?
  • Is this issue with a specific font or for all fonts?
  • Which pdf printer do you use?

We require your journal files and Revit model to investigate further and reproduce this issue.

I can share a private folder if you'd like.

Looking forward to your reply update.

Hi Viveka

Answers to your questions:

  • We do not have DWGs in our Revit Template file. The issue comes when I upgrade my Revit Template file from Revit 2016 to Revit 2018.2

  • We only use front Verdana in my company.
  • PDFCreator

If you share a private folder, I will send you my Revit Template for Revit 2016.

Regards Flemming

Not that I know of, we have been slowly editing our families with annotation and adjusted the width slightly. Its not perfect, but you cant tell the difference until you zoom really close......Let me know if you find anything !!!1

Hi @fkm

Thanks for uploading your journals. You may have to share the folder P+P journal - (I am unable to download or preview them)

The journals will go a long way in investigating the issue.

I will let you know if we require any other information. I may share a collector utility if required and follow up with an update.

Hi @fkm

Few more questions- does your family text 'overlap' or 'shrink'

Is this behavior only with Verdana font? Have you noticed the same behaviour with any othe font?

Did you try any other PDF printer?

Hi Viveka
The text becomes wider and higher.
I have just tested font Times New Roman, and it behavior the same way as Verdana. The text gets wider and higher.
I have not tried another PDF printer. The problem is in Revit. When I print, I print the layout from Revit. I don't think this is the problem.

Hi Viveka

Just to clarify - the problem is both in family text and project text. The text gets wider og higher.

I have just read the Subject text again.

fkm,

I seemed to have solved our issue, I'm not sure if this will solve yours.

I saw on another post that it might be an issue with Windows and not Revit. I logged in as myself on the computer with the problem and everything prints as expected. I then logged back in as the user that is having the problem and it went back to the wide text on the PDFs.

I adjusted the font size under the display settings to 101% for that user and 'poof' like magic everything prints fine.

Hopefully this helps

- Tom

Hi @fkm

After investigating all your files, I'm sharing an update from the dedicated resource team at Autodesk which works closely with the Revit's test engine:

This issue is seen in cases where the font wrapping changes when editing various zoom levels, etc

The new text component in Revit 2018 renders text slightly differently and results in some fonts getting slightly wider and some fonts getting slightly narrower.  This is often not noticeable, but in cases where a line of text in very very close to wrapping, the slightly wider font might cause a wrap–which is what has happened in few instances.

To fix it you, can either stretch the box of the text note (or label) slightly to accommodate this and not wrap.  Or you can make the text slightly smaller.  In the latter case, you can change the Verdana text from 3.000 mm to 2.970 mm and the wrap is quelled.

Changing the font scale/ resolution to 101% is a temporary solution. This may not apply if you have multiple monitor setup.

Let me know if this helps.

Regards,
