Hi all,
I'm having an issue with Revit 2017 where when I open a family file Revit will try to upgrade the model from 2016 to 2017, stop responding, and crash. Project files work fine. The issue is consistent across multiple family files of different types and will occur even if the family file has already been updated to or created in Revit 2017 on another machine. I can not duplicate the issue on other machines in the office, the family files behave as expected on other machines. The audit option does no good. I have tried both repairing and reinstalling Revit to no avail.
Does anybody have any insight into the issue or can I just throw this machine into a river like the brick it is.
EDIT: Even if I create a new family from scratch, save it to my desktop, and then try and open it, it will try to upgrade from 2016 and crash.
did you try a Clean Uninstall of Revit down to the registry removal too?

We did a clean install and it did not help. Is there an instructions page somewhere that can guide me on correctly removing the proper registry files?
